Holiday Ball

Holiday Ball: A Tradition of Celebration and Community Impact

Holiday Ball is our annual fundraiser and a cherished celebration for our members and the South Bend community. First held in 1927, it has grown into one of the Junior League of South Bend’s most enduring traditions. In 1941, the League hosted a war‑bond contest that crowned four “queens,” one from each South Bend high school—a moment that inspired today’s presentation of Senior Sons and Daughters, honoring graduating seniors of current League members.

Why Your Support Matters

Funds raised through Holiday Ball directly support the Junior League of South Bend’s community projects. The generosity of sponsors and attendees make it possible to continue our initiatives and develop our members into community leaders. Your support fuels meaningful work and strengthens the impact we make together.

Honoring Exceptional Service

Each year, we present the Mary Lou Schwartz Award at Holiday Ball in memory of JLSB member and dedicated community volunteer Mary Lou Schwartz. Established in 2003, this award recognizes an outstanding woman whose volunteer leadership and fundraising spirit reflect the legacy of its namesake.

With Gratitude

Thank you for your support and for joining us at the 2025 Holiday Ball Masquerade. Your presence helps sustain the work we do and the community we love.

Thanks to the 2024 contributions to the Holiday Ball, we have been able to support the following organizations!

Our Signature Project with Reigns of LifeWe helped create a new sensory gym equipped to support individuals with sensory processing needs. This space enhances sensory development, motor skills, and social engagement—an investment that will benefit children and families for years to come. We’re excited to continue building positive change together throughout the year.

Alongside our work with Reins of Life, we’re proud to support two additional organizations making a meaningful difference in South Bend:

  • The Ronald McDonald House of Charities — We funded the Fresh Start Nourishment Program, ensuring families have access to fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, and bread while receiving care and support at the House.
  • The Ronald McDonald House of Charities — We contributed to the development of a youth reader’s theatre partnership that strengthens reading fluency, expression, and comprehension through collaborative performance, building confidence, teamwork, and a deeper love of literacy.
